1 Corinthians 15:42-44 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. This morning I had read 1 Corinthians 15, I found it profound and a blessing to me. 1 Corinthians 15:35-55 spoke of heavenly and spiritual bodies which I found encouraging in regards to my mom. I wrote down multiple scriptures from this chapter, instead of typing them all out write now I'll list the verse and paraphrase what the scripture means to me. After the paraphrasing I'll conclude with why I find them so profound. Let's get started! [v. 42-44] In the flesh we are perishable and one day we will have a spiritual body where we will then be IMperishable. We go from dishonor to glory; weakness to power. A natural body to a spiritual body! Who we are on this earth is not who we're meant to be forever. We will receive eternal glory and eternal power. All that we've had to and will endure shall come to pass. [v.49] We will be heavenly! We'll get a makeover! We won't be in heaven with our fleshly bodies, but our spiritual bodies. That is something to be excited about, at least in my opinion. [v.52] "the dead will be raised imperishable" When our time comes noting can no longer harm us. We will be raised! [v.55] Death holds no victory over us. We are the ones with the victory through Christ for He conquered death. These passages blessed me this morning with encouragement and comfort. After our flesh has died we will be raised in a spiritual body. I find these passages comforting because my mom now has a spiritual body. Her earthly body is gone which means she is done away with weakness and in exchange she has been given glory and power. My mom dealt with so much in her lifetime and now she is in glory; that brings me some comfort. I had a dream a month or so after she passed where we were sitting at the dining room table where she was glowing and she appeared so beautiful. She was smiling, looked more youthful as if she were in her late 20's early 30's the way I remember her when I was little. In this dream she had told me, " I was dead." I often remember this dream in assurance that she is alive in Christ. According to scripture she is alive and has a spiritual body. She labored and lived for the Lord her whole life and she has been awarded a spiritual body and a place in God's kingdom. There is so much joy in knowing she has been renewed, of course I miss her (like crazy!), but the life she lived for the Lord has been rewarded. She has experienced true victory. 2 Corinthians 15:57-58 "57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." I must stand firm and let nothing move me or come between myself and God. I must continue in the way of the Lord. I have allowed my mom's passing to shake me, but I must stand firm so that I too may enter my spiritual body and inherit the kingdom of God whenever that day may come. All of my hurt, trials, and future sufferings will be worth the experience of victory in Christ. All of this hurt, all of these anxieties I face on this earth, all of the fleshly hardships will one day die with my flesh. I will be risen in a spiritual body where I will have eternal victory. Victory is already mine in Christ, but that day I will rise in glory, all of us Christ followers will be risen in glory. What a day that will be, face to face to my Savior and King and reunited with the one that I miss. Everything we do for and with the Lord is worth the glory that awaits us. Blessings
