1 Corinthians Chapter 2

Elizabeth Christine

Tonight while I was reading 1 Corinthians chapter 2 I came across two verses that stood out to me that are important to remember in our everyday lives and in every situation we encounter. The first passage I would like to share with you is 1 Corinthians 2: 11-13. (Amplified Bible version from Bible Gateway) 11 For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God.13 We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit]. My interpretation/ exploration of the passage: As A believer we are given the Holy Spirit to help us and guide us. In this passage it is made clear that we are also given the Holy Spirit to understand God Himself a well as the many things He has planned for our lives. We are only able to understand spiritual aspects by His wisdom that He freely gives us, not by our own knowledge. We are to be guided by God's Spirit (not our own) every day of our lives, even on our hardest days. The second passage I'd like to share with you is 1 Corinthians 2:16. (Amplified version adapted from Bible Gateway) 16 For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. (Emphasis in purple added by me) "But we have the mind of Christ". I believe this is so important for us to take to heart and something we need to remind ourselves daily. As a believer we are given the mind of Christ and we need to claim it as our own, given by God. God gave us Christ's mind to guide us and lead us to complete the purpose God has predestined for our lives; it is our choice to implicate it in our life. We have to allow ourselves to be guided by God's thoughts and His purpose for our life which is part of His bigger plan. I think we need to hold on to these truths of God's given spirit and the mind of Christ and use them in our spiritual arsenal. I had previously wrote about the battle I had felt I was fighting in my mind and I think these are the weapons I can use to conquer, we can ALL use to conquer as a warrior of Christ. All of this may be hard to remember when we are enduring grief and all of the emotions we feel while facing it, but if we use the mind of Christ God has freely given to us we can overcome. The mind of Christ comes with peace and wisdom to endure all situations. While we are enduring grief we tend to allow ourselves to be guided by our emotions rather than the Holy Spirit. To be led by the Holy Spirit is a choice we need to make everyday ESPECIALLY on our days when we feel emotionally drained; those days are when we need the Holy Spirit the most because we can't do it on our own. The Holy Spirit is the most precious gift God could have ever given us(in my opinion) because it is our helper and guide. I know I for one need some help and guidance through the crazy emotions I have felt and some guidance on which steps to take to further my healing and how to continue growing in the Lord. God gave us the Holy Spirit and mind of Christ to help us face every day and every trial and to help us understand that God has greater plans for us that we can't yet see. (verse 12). Allow the Holy Spirit to consume and guide you. Accept the mind of Christ to win your mental battles. God bless
